Neurofibroma

A neurofibroma involving a peripheral nerve of the left hand. The tumor was excised and appears below.

Neurofibroma: These cutaneous tumors consist of an abnormal mass of Schwann cells and fibroblasts. Surgical resection is usually curative. However, since the tumors are intraneural this involves sacrificing the affected nerve.
