Meningioma

A menigioma involving the right parietal lobe. Note attachment to dura and absence of infiltration into the brain.

A large menigioma that has developed between the cerebral hemispheres.

Microscopic view of a meningioma illustrates the characteristic microscopic whirl pattern.

Meningioma: Cells composing the coverings of the brain, the meninges, give rise to these neoplasms. Meningiomas grow slowly and form characteristic patterns that are easily observed microscopically. They are clearly outlined and rarely infiltrate the brain. They may infiltrate the dura and surrounding bone.
